How to check Vastu on your floor plan

  1. Add your plan. Choose a JPG, PNG, WebP or PDF floor plan. It is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
  2. Set north. Tap the plan’s north arrow (tail, then tip), pick a quick direction, or enter the angle.
  3. Mark the outline. Tap the outer corners of the home. The centre (Brahmasthan) is calculated from the outline; you can drag it.
  4. Choose a grid. Switch between 8 directions, 16 zones, 32 entrance padas, or the 3×3 Vastu grid.
  5. Place rooms. Pick a room type and tap its middle on the plan. Each room is rated by zone, and the entrance gets a 32-pada reading.
  6. Save or share. Export an annotated PNG, print a report, or open the result in the Vastu Checker.

What makes this floor plan tool different

  • Private by design. Many plan analyzers upload your home’s layout to a server. This one does all the work in your browser.
  • Free full result. Zone overlay, room ratings, 32-pada entrance and the exportable image are all free — no credits or report fee.
  • Honest about automation. We don’t pretend to auto-detect rooms. You place them; the geometry is then exact.
  • See where a room fits. Select a room type and every zone lights up green, amber or red for that room before you place it.

Getting an accurate result

Two inputs decide everything: north and the outline. A north arrow drawn by hand on a sale brochure can be off by 10–20°, so if a room lands near a zone boundary, confirm north on-site with the online Vastu compass or the map direction finder. For flats, outline only your flat — not the whole building or the plot.

Read the room-by-room guides for what each rating means in practice: kitchen, bedroom, toilet, main entrance and pooja room.

Frequently asked questions

Is my floor plan uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is read and drawn entirely in your browser using the canvas API — there is no server upload. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the analyzer still works. Closing the tab discards the plan.

Does the tool detect rooms automatically?

No, deliberately. Automatic room recognition on hand-drawn, scanned or photographed plans is unreliable, and a wrongly labelled room would produce wrong Vastu advice. You tap each room once (it takes about 30 seconds) and every zone calculation after that is exact.

How is the Brahmasthan (centre) found?

From the outline you draw, using the polygon’s geometric centroid — this handles L-shaped and irregular homes better than the middle of a bounding box. If your Vastu practitioner uses a different centre (for example, ignoring a projection), drag the centre marker.

What is the difference between the 16-zone, 32-pada and 3×3 grid?

The 16-zone and 8-direction overlays divide the home radially from the centre (22.5° or 45° slices). The 32-pada overlay marks the classical entrance positions around the perimeter. The 3×3 grid is the simplest Vastu Purusha Mandala view, aligned to north. Room ratings use the 8-direction zone (or grid cell) plus the centre.

My plan has no north arrow. What do I do?

Measure it: stand inside the home, hold the phone flat along a wall that appears vertical on your plan with the phone’s top pointing to the plan’s “up” side, and read the bearing on the Vastu compass. Enter that number as the north angle with the opposite sign (360 minus the reading). Or use the map direction finder to measure the building’s orientation.

Which file types and sizes are supported?

JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, SVG and PDF (first page by default; you can choose another page), up to 25 MB. Very large images are scaled down to 2400 px on the longest side. iPhone HEIC photos work only in Safari — convert them to JPG elsewhere.
